Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” tour eclipses everything else: FKP Scorpio celebrates breaking several records with the artist.

Last Saturday, the final concert promoted by FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH as part of Ed Sheeran’s “Divide” tour took place – a tour that caused all records to tumble. Superlatives have long been the rule with Ed Sheeran – but a number of very special benchmarks could be celebrated on this tour: With the first of the two open air concerts on the trade fair grounds in Hanover last Friday, in front of 75,000 spectators – the 246th show in his almost two-and-a-half year world tour, which began on 16 March 2017 – Ed Sheeran broke the total gross record, which was previously held by U2 and its “360” tour. At this point, revenues for the “Divide” tour had reached 736.7 million dollars, and thus 1.3 million dollars more than the previous peak of 735.4 million dollars achieved by U2.
Already on 24 May the artist broke another record previously held by U2, this time at his concert in Décines-Charpieu, France: By this point, 7,315,970 fans had attended his tour – 7.3 million saw U2’s “360” tour.
The thanks expressed in the industry magazine “Pollstar” by Sheeran’s manager Stuart Camp to all of the promoters involved in the tour was happily returned by FKP Scorpio CEO Folkert Koopmans: “We are delighted, along with Stuart and Ed, about the gigantic success and the unbelievable results of the “Divide” tour, and we are very proud to have been a part of it.”
A total of 28 concerts from the “Divide” tour were staged in seven European countries by FKP Scorpio, including the largest concerts ever played to date by Ed Sheeran in his impressive career: On 22 and 23 June 2019 at the Hockenheimring, each with 100,000 fans. Right behind those was another concert organised by FKP Scorpio: Ed Sheeran’s show at the Trabrennbahn in Hamburg on 25 July 2018 was attended by more than 80,000 fans.
But that’s not all: The Ed Sheeran double-shows organised by FKP Scorpio in Prague on 7 and 8 July 2019, with 145,000 fans, and in Helsinki on 23 and 24 July 2019 in front of 108,000 fans, were the largest concerts ever staged in the Czech Republic and Finland. No live act has ever reached more fans there.
In all a total of 1,458,805 tickets were sold for the Ed Sheeran concerts staged by FKP Scorpio. Throughout the entire “Divide” tour more than 8.5 million fans will have seen the musician live. By the end of his tour on 26 August 2019, Ed Sheeran will have played 255 concerts in 170 venues in 45 countries.
“The 28 concerts we organised were without doubt the highlight of our many years of cooperation with this exceptional artist, which began in 2011 with his appearance at the Rolling Stone Weekender at Weissenhäuser Strand in front of around 200 people,” is how Folkert Koopmans summarised the shows on the “Divide” tour.
