HISTORY

2014

Chiemsee Reggae and Chiemsee Rocks become the Chiemsee Summer Festival (GER). Additional days and additional acts ensure a larger festival experience – FKP Scorpio invests in the north: the Finish entertainment company Fullsteam is taken over, a participating interest is acquired in the Danish company Beatbox Concerts, and majority participation is acquired in Provinssi Rock (FI). With 73,000 visitors, Hurricane (DE) is repeatedly sold out with headliners such as: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Arcade Fire, The Black Keys, Seeed and many others – James Blunt sold more than 100,000 tickets on his arena tours – with his guitar, Ed Sheeran attracts more than 60,000 visitors in the national arenas

 

2013

Folkert Koopmans receives the ILMC Arthur Award: Promoter Of The Year – four new events celebrate debut: Vans Warped Tour (GER), the indoor festival Metal Hammer Paradise (GER), the Bråvalla Festival (SE) and the Best Kept Secret (NL) – FKP Scorpio sends Mumford & Sons on a successful arena tour – the Northside Festival (DK) is sold out

 

2012

FKP Scorpio enters the Dutch market: the concert agency Friendly Fire of Utrecht becomes part of the FKP Scorpio Group. In addition, the company takes over the Indian Summer Festival (NL) in spring, Alt-J played their first shows in Germany as supporting act


2011

The expansion of activities in the north are continued: FKP Scorpio participates in the Getaway Rock (SE) Festival and with FKP Scorpio Sweden, it opens parallel its first office in Stockholm – participation in the Deichbrand Festival (GER) – European Festival Award: Festival Promoter Of The Year & Hurricane (GER) and Southside (GER) are Artists´ Favourite Festivals – LEA Award: M’era Luna (GER) (Festival of the Year)

 

2010

The first edition of the Hamburger Kultursommer (GER) is held at the harness racetrack in Bahrenfeld, Hamburg – entry in the Danish market: the Northside Festival (DK) also debuts

 

2009

The Rolling Stone Weekender (GER) on Weissenhäuser Beach becomes part of the festival family – LEA Award: the jury awards this prize for the Rolling Stone Weekender (GER) – FKP Scorpio sends Mumford & Sons for the first time on tour


2008

The Highfield (GER) is sold out for the first time with bands such as the Beatsteaks, Die Ärzte and The Killerswith over 130,000 tickets sold, Hurricane (GER) and Southside (GER) are also sold out – headliners were among others Foo Fighters, Radiohead and The Chemical Brothers


2007

FKP Scorpio organizes the Red Hot Chili Peppers arena tour – Billy Talent go with Alexisonfire and Enter Shikari on Germany tour and report one sold out concert after the other

 

 

2006

Hurricane (GER) and Southside (GER) are sold out – Robbie Williams thrills the crowd of 160,000 visitors who came to the Hamburg harness racetrack (2 shows with 80,000 guests each)


2005

Hurricane (GER) and Southside (GER) are sold out – Coldplay is on a successful German tour – FKP Scorpio gets into the Swiss market: it participates in the Greenfield (CH) Festival

2004

Bravissimo – FKP Scorpio becomes classical: Aida as arena opera with more than 500 performers – a giant success with an audience of over 35,000 – just like our Hamburg concerts with Britney Spears, Usher, and “The Gentleman of Music”: James Last – FKP Scorpio organizes the Slayer + Slipknot tour – in addition, Incubus plays at 7 shows in Germany

2003

One “big name” follows another in the local business: we organize concerts with Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Radiohead, and Eminem. Placebo is on tour and a lot happens in the show area: with Mi Lady Salsa, we bring South American rhythm to Germany and with Mayumana, we bring a perplexing combination of percussion, dance, black theatre and comedy on the stage. Also new at FKP Scorpio: Palazzo - the gourmet theatre in the mirror tent.

2002

At the top! A larger site, more bands and 50,000 festival visitors are cramped shoulder-on-shoulder waiting from the pit to the admission access: the Hurricane (GER) 2002 with the Red Hot Chili Peppers as headliners.

2001

This year’s highlights? Without a doubt our tours with Eminem and Coldplay!

2000

New: the M‘era Luna (GER) festival for dark wave and gothic sounds and the Terremoto Festival (GER) for the rock fans – both are very popular among fans.

1999

Sold out: 40,000 fans rock at the Hurricane (GER) and even the newly added Southside (GER) Festival is sold out – the Robbie Williams concert is the annual highlight in the local business – and: heading for new shores – Gaelforce Dance: planned originally for 14 dates, this tap dance production makes a killing with 110 shows and over 250,000 visitors.

1998

The festival family keeps on growing: Highfield (GER) with Santana as top act and the Zillo (GER) festival join Hurricane (GER) – also the FKP Scorpio family keeps on growing.

1997

What a year! 30,000 fans came to our open-air concert of the Smashing Pumpkins at the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, full house: St. Pauli was completely blocked! – And: the first Hurricane (GER) festival with Rammstein and Inxs as headliners.

1996

Alternative program: instead of stage diving and head bangin' soft toy throwing and fainting: the Backstreet Boys are new in our local show roster.

1995

In the early 1990s, there was no other band in England, which was named more often as role model as the Stone Roses – we organize their German tour.

1994

Out into the fresh air: The Midsummer Open Air (GER) – our entry into the festival business.

1993

A La La La La Long: the upbeat dance number “Sweat” of Inner Circle is also becoming a hit for us: we are responsible for the tour booking in entire Europe and we organize one sold-out concert after the other.

1992

One year after the Red Hot Chili Peppers began their victory march around the world with their album “Blood Sugar Sex Magik”, we presented the band in two sold-out concerts in Hamburg – FKP Scorpio goes on national tour with the band The Curve.

1991

FKP Scorpio goes punk: the absolute highlight was the sold-out concert of Johnny, Dee Dee, Tommy and Joey Ramone in the Hamburg Docks.

1990

The founding year and the first successful tour with new wave icon, Anne Clark, with more than 20 sold-out events in Germany.
